Road Trip Part Deux: or D.C. Cab

I just recently returned from a road trip to Washington D.C. I was sent there on assignment as a field producer/cameraman/editor/babysitter. My reporter and I geared up and left on Monday the 19th of September.
We've been following the story of the Jung Family, and their son Andrew was going to D.C. to speak at a rally for immigration reform. He also stopped by the offices of Ohio senators and members of congress to plead his family's case, calling for reform in the immigration laws.

Hey look! Jerks work back there. Hmmm,

The D.C. guy's desk is a lot nicer than mine.

Hey Willard! It's My Birthday!

Our Hotel was not in the best area.

Yep the accommodations sucked, in fact we had brushes with death 3 times in a row, in a ten minute time period.

My favorite part, aside from interviewing John McCaine, was catching up with my buddy Jason. I haven't seen him in over four years.

Morgan and I spent the night Casting her belly in Plaster. She is waiting for it to dry right now. Then we shall use it for a Nacho Bowl. The Boobies hold salsa and guacamole.

Catching Up Is Hard To Do

First off Morgan and I are fine, and very excited about our little Chuck Jr. on the way. Even though as I'm typing this Morgan just called to me from across the room and said "For the last few days, the baby's been squishing my stomach, and it's very very very unpleasant." When she says things like that I always walk over to her and give her a hug, then I point at her belly and scold the baby saying "Look at what you've done to your poor mudda" I think the baby likes it.

A couple of months ago my buddy Jonny 5 and I took a little road trip down to Cincinnati. It's only about a 3 hour drive so it went by pretty quick. When we got down there Jonny and I drove around town and he would point out various areas of interest. We were stopped at a light by the stadium when the entire team of Cincinnati Bengals started walking across the street right in front of my car. Then Jonny started heckling Carson Palmer....it was very surreal. After that we met up with a gaggle of Jonny's friends from The 'Natti. After an afternoon in a couple of bars we ended up at the Violent Femmes Concert. The concert was in an alley behind a bar.....I'm not joking, also very surreal. After I heard the songs that I wanted to listen to I went back into the bar, where everyone else was watching the concert on a closed circuit big screen T.V. Wussies. When inside Jonnys buddy from Cinci, Hortor kept introducing me to the most random people. He would say "Hey Chuck, c'mere I want to introduce you to Shayne Graham he's the kicker for the Bengals." And then later he said "Hey Chuck I want you to meet Justin Jeffre from 98 degrees, he's running for Mayor of Cincinnati." That one was even way too weird for me. I mean c'mon, how freakin' random is that. And what are you supposed to say to that and keep a straight face? Luckily I watch way to much T.V., so I told him that I thought he did a good job on that episode of Mad T.V. that he was on. After that we went to another bar.

Now I remember going to the bar, but that is pretty much it, next thing I know I'm waking up in Kentucky. After a breakfast with Jonny and Hump we met up with Jimmy, and Russ then I totally got schooled in my first game of Frisbee Golf ever.

After that we went to Paul's for a Luau. Hortor even bought a pigs head for the event. Why, because Hortor's a freakin' sicko. I kid I love Hortor. That pigs head was pretty sick though, especially when Hortor and I had to throw it away the next day. Hortor pushed the garbage can under it and I kicked it by the platter it was resting on into it. When I did that it started oozing and an eye fell off. Hortor started screaming like a little girl and I ran into the street yelling "That was so Freakin' Nasty!" Aside from that I had a great time. Except I woke up in the closet the next morning. Jonny is making me go back for Octoberfest. I'm scared.

Is this thing on? Testing testing one, two, three

Okay, over two months without a post, so there is a lot going on. I wonder if there is anyone out there that cares enough to check the blog anymore.

First off, there is only eight more weeks before little Michael comes out and joins us. No, Morgan and I still haven't found out the sex of the baby, but it has to be a boy. I would be the world's most overprotective father to a girl, especially once she hit her teens.

This is Morgan's belly at 32 weeks.

Morgan made the Crib Bumpers for the crib. They're pretty sweet. She went with the classic cat and the hat.

Okay, I promise I'll post more this week, but I've got to take off. First the 11pm news, then Chuck Suede has to meet up with some folks from work and belt out a couple of tunes.

Keeping Busy

Because we just finished sweeps it seems like everyone is on vacation and we're short handed at the station. I had to go to the zoo and shoot video of a baby swamp monkey because we didn't have enough photogs to do it. I've also had to run downtown and pick up copies of search warrants and video from other stations. All in all it's not that bad since my job usually consists of me sitting at a desk all day. It's good to get outside every now and then.

I just saw this music video called "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me" by TISM it's pretty funny you should check it out.

We just went to the doctor for her second Ultra-sound on Monday. We got some good shots of the baby, so let's check in on Jr. shall we.

This is good one of the baby's arms.

The last of the trip pics

It was snowing on my way to Klamath Falls as I was leaving Oregon.

Wells Fargo put a block on my card because they thought someone had stolen it from all the gas charges. I took this after I tried to get a hotel room in Nevada at about 2 am on my first day. I'd been driving all day and I just wanted to get some sleep. I ended up driving on through to Wyoming before I could get the bank to reactivate my card so I could get a room.

Woooow...........Wyoming.

The sun rising on my last day. I was about 20 miles outside of Chicago headed for Indiana.

Made it to Ohio. This is were I work now.

People in Ohio drive like freaking maniacs. This photo is not a rarity, crap like this happens everyday here. Usually it's a lot worse.

Bye Bye......CS loves you

A Little Road Blog

Here are some photos from my trip across the country. I really didn't take many because I didn't stop very often and it seemed like most of my driving was at night.

This is from my final night of Karaoke in Ashland. There are actually a lot of good shots from that night that I should post. In this one I’m telling Andrew that he will betray me and Bret that he will deny me 3 times.

Awww damn I'm having a problem with the computer, I'll post the rest later.

Hello Toledo

Well I made it to Toledo. I left Ashland on Thursday morning at 10am and got here on Sunday morning at 10am. On the first day the cat flipped out when I let her out of the carrier to use the litter box. Then she jumped on the back of the passenger seat and peed all over it. After that she caused me to almost wreak the truck and I got stuck on a soft shoulder and this nice man with no teeth and a Dodge truck pulled me out. Also Wells Fargo thought someone stole my Check Card and Froze it so I couldn't get a hotel room until I talked to the fraud department at 6am the next day, and I was in the Mountain time zone by then so it was 7am for me.

On Friday I had to battle a lot of snow in Utah and Wyoming. I also got delayed for about 2 hours when there was a 13 car accident inside a tunnel in Green River Wyoming.

Just a lot of driving on Saturday nothing really comes to mind. Oh except that the freeway exit number for Ashland Nebraska is 420.....ha ha.

On Sunday at about 3 in the morning I hit a 50 mile long stretch fog in Illinois. I couldn't see past 2 feet in front of the truck. That really slowed ms down.

I've got to go unpack the truck at the storage unit now.

Okay, Okay I’m Alive I Swear To God

Man it’s been forever since I left a post. I know I still haven't posted any pics form Mexico yet, I would say I’ve been slacking, but I’ve just been really busy with work and now sweeps start up on Thursday. Anyway I’ll throw you all a bone and post at least one pic.
This is of the huge Catholic Church in Puerto Vallarta. It’s pretty cool, there was a huge festival going on when we there and on Sunday thousands of people lined the streets, all flowing into the church to pray.

I went up to Portland about 2 weeks ago for one night and one night only, unfortunately Morgan had to work and could not go with me. It was the last night Little Lost Robot was going to be in Portland. He has since moved to South Carolina. I went up for his farewell bash at the Ambassador for one final night of Karaoke madness. The most surreal part was when the main female anchor from one of the Portland affiliates showed up around 11:45, began drinking, and by 1:00am ended up singing Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry” while still wearing her anchor clothes. She even had all of her anchor makeup on still and her hair looked like she just stepped off the set. I had to stop and take a step back for a sec, because I thought I’d stepped into some kind of wacky movie. I got video of it too it was awesome. The second most surreal moment was when the two little Asian twins got up and sang “I’m all out of love” by Air Supply in broken English.

Here’s a shot of me in some kind of rock pose while two girls (I have no idea who they are) seem to really be enjoying my rendition of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time”. I totally do not remember this picture being taken, but I really like the way it was framed up.

One last thing. Check out B. Alan Orange’s latest column on Movieweb.com. It’s about the 23 titles he needs to come out on DVD to make his life complete before Blue-Ray Discs and HD-DVDs are fully acclimated into our lifestyle. If you can’t get past his rant at the beginning of the column, scroll down to number 23 and check out the final familiar title on his list.

Funny I don’t remember working for the SciFi Channel, I must have blocked that out.

Speaking of out, That’s what I am,

Season's Bleedings

Well Morgan and I have returned from Puerto Vallarta and Portland. Mexico was great and I’ll put up some pictures on the next post. But right now I want to talk about the Season’s Bleedings film festival. The second Gore-A-Rama-A-Go-Go was on Saturday Dec. 18th at 0pm. There were 16 films shown mine was number 3. Most of the films were excellent, some were very, very bad. My least favorite movie was “Beer and Nine” I think it was summed up best when the judge rating on a scale from 1 to 10 gave it a question mark.

I was completely nervous and freaked out. I wanted to sit in the back by the door in case the audience hated it and started booing and throwing beer bottles at the screen, but LL Robot reserved me a table right in front of the screen. Morgan kept rubbing my back and telling me to calm down, which I finally did about two movies after mine was shown. I was pretty scared but the audience seemed to really dig it. They laughed at the right places and I got a lot of applause at the end. Even though my movie was in the exhibition category and not being judged, Daria O’Neil who was one of the judges (and my favorite DJ when I lived in Portland) had some very nice words for my little film. All in all I’m glad I did it and I’ll probably start making a lot more films and start writing more scripts.

Here are some Pictures.

This is me and LL Robot before the show.
Morgan got some kind of bloody present from a Zombie Santa.
This is one of the lovely Gore Whores who were selling the raffle tickets that benefited p:ear.
Old friends reunited, LL Robot, X-Jan & Chuck.

The Doctor is Out

I’m off on vacation, I haven’t had one in a year and I’m going to relish it. I’ll be in Puerto Vallarta Mexico for two weeks, and the film isn’t done yet....the soundtrack isn’t finished and it needs to be added. I’m not sure it will get finished while I'm gone but I can hope. No posts for two weeks, but lots of pics when I get back.

Take care folks,
